CELL LEADER'S GUIDE: 24 APRIL 2024

ICE BREAKER:
What incredibly common thing have you never done?

WORSHIP:
“Praise the Lord, my soul: all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits –  who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases  who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” (Psalms 103:1-5 NIV)

FAMILY SERIES: GOD’S HEART FOR EVERY MAN – IDENTITY
We are in family month and last week we focused on the importance of finding one’s identity in Christ for both men and women. We all were urged to embrace our true identity engraved by God and not let negative labels define us. Men were encouraged to celebrate their manhood and understand their value as children of God.

TEXT:
Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 2:7, Psalm 139:14, Daniel 4:28-30, 1 Peter 2:9, Romans 12:2, 2 Corinthians 5:17

DISCUSSION:
From the scriptures we have read:

1. What does it mean to find your identity in Christ, and why is it important?
Last week, we learnt the importance of understanding and finding one’s identity in Christ as the only stable and secure identity. This discussion, therefore, helps to find out how members of cell have personally discovered their identity in Christ, and how it affects their daily life.

2. How does understanding yourself as a child of God change your priorities and values? How does it impact our relationship with others?
The sermon teaches that as followers of Jesus, we are considered children of God, and this identity surpasses accomplishments, wealth, or social status. Therefore, let members discuss in what areas of your lives you need to shift your priorities and values to align with your identity as a child of God.

3. What does it look like to celebrate the manhood of the men in our lives, and why is this important?
The pastor encouraged men to celebrate their manhood and women to celebrate the men in their lives. Discuss some practical ways you can celebrate and encourage the men in your life in their God-given manhood.

PRAYER:

  1. Ask God to help the men in our lives flourish as they walk in their identity in Christ.
  2. Share your prayer requests and care for one another in prayer.
